The lady in this photo is Annette Larkins. She is in her 80's. And, no, she hasn't had plastic surgery, neither has the photo been photo shopped.
She was vegetarian for 56 years before raw vegan and has been for the last 30 years or so. She started her journey because she wanted to feel and be healthy. When she noticed the positive changes, she then began to eliminate dairy and refined products (like all white flour, sugar, etc).
This blog is not about Annette Larkins, it is about how we can, as individuals, take charge of our own ageing process and health.
None of us will live forever, however, we can control how quickly or slowly we age,: how healthy or unhealthy we are.
All our average lifespans have already extended by 3 months for every year we have lived now. By 2030, that will extend to 1 year for every year lived!
We may be living longer, but are we living healthier? Many people are not sick enough to say that they are unhealthy, neither are they healthy enough to say that they are 100% well.
Why not just attempt to be as healthy and vibrant as we can be, most of the time?
Wouldn't you love to be rid of aches and pains, many relate to ageing?
Wouldn't you love to have boundless (almost!) energy much of the time?
Wouldn't you prefer not to experience brain fog?
If you answered yes to all these questions, what is stopping you from moving forward?
The majority of us don't eat real food in it's natural form. Many also have a diet that is high in animal based products. Eating this way doesn't provide our living bodies with the nutrients it needs to function optimally.
Sure our bodies are still working, even on this way of eating, however, there will come a point when our bodies will rebel. I am sure many have experienced some form of "rebellion", like constipation, diaorrhea, migraines, rash, acne, irregular period, erectile dysfunction, infertility, digestive issues, gout, aches & pains, congested sinus, recurring health issues that are not healing with medication, etc, etc. Why put up with being less than your best?
This is not to say that we will never get the flu or a cold. But we can do more to improve how we feel on a daily basis.
We don't have to, and many won't want to be raw vegans (because so many of us have an emotional attachment to food, rather than a practical one), that will take a total mindset change from an individual's personal standpoint. But we can do better for ourselves.
We can't change our chronological age, but we can change our biological age. I want to still be active well into my 80's and I am sure many of you would like to have the energy and strength to keep up with any possible grandchildren, grand nieces or nephews, or even to just feel vibrant.
All this is possible and it starts with our plates.
