Healing with Plants

What's with all the hype about plants? We keep hearing about vegans, vegetarians, plant based, whole food plant based. Is this a new trend? A new bandwagon to jump on, only to find that it was just a marketing ploy?

Well, its not a bandwagon, a marketing ploy, or a trend.

Many are now realising that our dietary habits are actually harming our health and the environment.

By this, I mean that the majority are eating because they enjoy it, for how something tastes. Not for any health benefit. We eat what we want, when we want.

Chronic lifestyle diseases and issues, which are totally preventable, are on the rise. Obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, eczema, erectile dysfunction, infertility, cancer, etc.

We may be living longer, but we are not having a better quality of life. Many of us are on medication to suppress one issue or another. This is not life.

We are anxious, exhausted, lack motivation, are depressed and more. Why is that? Surely with improving medical intervention, we should be healthier than ever.

So why aren't we as healthy as we would like to be, or should be?

Because most of us are eating way too many animal products and processed goods. We aren't eating enough fresh fruit or vegetables on a daily basis. No conscious effort is made to do so.

Evidence now shows that our ancestors ate a predominantly plant based diet that was high in unrefined carbohydrates.

Science has also proven time and again, in peer reviewed research, that Blue Zone and whole plant based diets are highly effective at preventing the majority of the chronic health issues many struggle with on a daily basis.

We must take charge of our own health. We must be proactive in preventing, as much as we possibly can, the scourge of detrimental lifestyle health issues invading our society.

Our immune system is extremely effective at this, only if we provide our bodies with the nutrients it needs daily, to support our health.

Like our ancestors, don't shy away from unrefined carbs (whole grains, sweet potato, potato, pumpkin), our bodies and our brains need it.

Eat to live, don't live to eat.

Take the time to invest in your health. Because if you don't, you will have to find the time once you are sick.
